Hi there, nice to meet you! My name is Saskia – the ‘Sas’ in Purpose with Sass and the person behind the Fundraiser for Education in Flores. Originally, I’m from Germany but now I live in Vienna, where I study interpreting at university. Last summer, however, as I was sitting in the interpreting booth in one of my classes, something clicked: I don’t want to only translate impact – I want to create it, too!
Once again I was confronted with the question of “What is my purpose?”, which can be so overwhelming, but you have to start somewhere. Purpose with Sass is exactly that: the beginning of my answer to that question.
Through this platform I want to build and document meaningful impact projects that empower and create real opportunities for others. We’re facing so many challenges in today’s world and even though the world seems to be more divided than ever, we can only take on these challenges together, one step at a time.
My first step is the Fundraiser for Education in Flores, Indonesia. This project was chosen for two reasons: First, I’ve been to Flores and have seen the reality of the people there with my own eyes. Second, I truly believe that education can empower entire generations and is key to creating a better future for everyone.
Purpose with Sass is my journey of learning how to walk the purpose-driven path, and hopefully through it I can inspire someone out there to do the same.
Fundraiser for Education in Flores
This fundraiser was created to support the education of 56 pupils and 13 university students from Flores, Indonesia. Until July 2026, we’re collecting donations online via GoFundMe and offline through organizing events in Vienna, Austria. It requires a total of ~25,300€ for all 69 pupils and students to stay in school/university in 2026.
100% of the donations will be used to pay for tuition fees, materials, school uniforms and transport. In July, I’m going to travel to Flores and personally bring the donations to the schools and families together with Florian Lengu, founder of the Dian Flores Indonesia Foundation.
